The University of Calabar (UNICAL) has matriculated 11,640 students for the 2024 academic session.
The 47th matriculation ceremony, held on Friday, 6th December 2024, at the Abraham Odia Sports Stadium in Calabar, marked the formal induction of the students into the university community.
The Vice-Chancellor, Professor Florence Obi, presided over the colourful event, welcoming the new students to the institution.
In her address, she emphasised the importance of discipline, hard work, and adherence to the university’s rules and regulations, urging the freshers to focus on their studies and avoid any disruptive behaviour.
Speaking on financial obligations, Prof. Obi reminded the students to ensure timely payment of all school fees and departmental dues, noting that such compliance is essential for their registration to be deemed complete.
“The University of Calabar is committed to providing you with the best learning experience, but you must also play your part by staying disciplined and fulfilling your responsibilities,” the Vice-Chancellor said.
The matriculation ceremony symbolised the beginning of a new chapter for the incoming students, who have been admitted into various faculties and departments across the university.
