1.6 Million Candidates Register for 2025 UTME as JAMB Rules Out Extension.
The Joint Admissions and Matriculation Board (JAMB) has announced that over 1.6 million candidates have successfully registered for the 2025 Unified Tertiary Matriculation Examination (UTME).
However, the board has firmly ruled out any extension of the registration deadline, which remains March 8, 2025.
In a statement released on Tuesday by its spokesperson, Fabian Benjamin, JAMB emphasised that the deadline is final and has been widely publicised as part of the official examination calendar.
The board urged prospective candidates to complete their registration promptly to avoid last-minute rush or disqualification.
“This notice is particularly important given the recent decline in the number of candidates registering for the examination. We urge all individuals who wish to participate to register promptly and avoid waiting until the last minute,” the statement read.
JAMB also clarified that its schedule is fixed, with subsequent activities such as the conduct of examinations, results processing, and admissions coordination relying heavily on the timely completion of the registration process.
Any delay, the board noted, could disrupt not only its plans but also those of its partners, including tertiary institutions and examination centres.
