JAMB Suspends FUNAI Law Admission for 2025 Session due to accreditation issue.
The Joint Admissions and Matriculation Board (JAMB) has announced that admissions into the Bachelor of Laws (LL.B) programme at Alex Ekwueme Federal University (FUNAI) and seven other universities will not be processed for the 2025/2026 academic session.
This decision was made after the Council of Legal Education (CLE), the highest regulatory body for legal education in Nigeria, suspended law programmes at Alex Ekwueme Federal University (FUNAI).
In a statement released by JAMB’s spokesperson, Fabian Benjamin, the board clarified that the suspension is part of efforts to maintain standards in legal education across the country.
As a result, candidates seeking to study Law in FUNAI and the other affected universities will not be able to secure admission through JAMB for the 2025/2026 session.
Why FUNAI Law Admission for 2025 is Suspended
The Council of Legal Education (CLE) is responsible for ensuring that law programmes in Nigerian universities meet the required standards for producing qualified legal professionals.
The suspension of law programmes in Alex Ekwueme Federal University (FUNAI) is due to issues related to accreditation and non-compliance with CLE’s guidelines.
JAMB emphasised that the suspension will last for two academic sessions, covering both the 2025/2026 and 2026/2027 sessions.
This means that candidates who had hoped to study Law in FUNAI during this period will need to consider other universities or programmes.
